research

so i started looking at borderlands and the metal defunkt machinery involved, also the architecture is pretty cool. the machinery is grimey and looks like its held together by chewing gum. this gritty style of almost stitching metal is cool and i can see myself using this in creating some imagery i particuarly like the machine with the huge grinder wheel is well designed for its scale and composition, it almost looks like an oil rig with its boxy appearance.

Sci fi mines

so im in Havoc along with Alex and Chris Caldow, Ben Keswick and Tom Ritchie.
we have initial ideas of creating a sci fi mine and as such im currently trying to research what inspires sci fi art and film.
so far what i have realised is that sci fi changes continually as it is only the belief of the future from ones current perspective, in other words my idea of a science fiction mine in the future now would be incredibly different to say in 10 years time.

this can be seen by simply looking back at some older sci fi stuff to see what i mean for example the star wars saga new and old with a clear cut design difference.
